ABOUT ME

I don’t have titles or education in Arts, I haven’t been published and I am not famous. I just like to draw and create that little magic that appears on someone’s face when they see something that they like.

When I was growing up, in the end of 70ties and beginning of 80ties in Latvia, art and being artist was considered as not being serious, as being crazy and lazy. During Soviet Times more practical professions were considered as more substantial and serious. I wanted to study arts and learn how to draw, but was forbidden by my parents. I ended up studying Finance and obtaining degree in this sphere. I have been working as Senior Expert of Taxes and Accountant for last 30 years. The idea to point was always on my mind and in my heart. In 2015 I decided to get some points and just draw … It has captured me since then and I haven’t been able to stop.

I am working from my home in Leeds in a small room with a big fish tank and feisty turtle in it. I am using acrylic, oil points and various other materials and substances to create my textured paintings. All done in two styles – Abstract and Subjective. I am still developing my skills and experimenting with my style and not yet ready from giving up one or another.

My inspiration comes from visits to Lake District, walks along beautiful coast line of England, from travelling abroad, from my home country and childhood in country side. After spending most of my life working in a sphere that is not very creative, I have decided to give myself time and try to create at least one thing that someone will see and say – that is beautiful, I would love to have that artwork on my wall.

I had always enjoyed painting and making craft pieces for myself, my daughters and my granddaughter as a hobby. My daughters have always urged me to point and to try various styles and ideas. I have exhibited some of my works in a  small fair organized by Latvian Club in Leeds and had few people coming around and wishing to buy some of my work. This has given me hope that I might be able to create something useful and inspiring for someone else. And here I am – giving it a try.

I hope that you will like at least one of my works and that I will be able to continue my adventure with Arts.
